The most famous of the two, or at least the most Couple that was mentioned to me the most when I was going up was Pricilla Mullins and John Alden. John and Pricilla Alden were well known due to 1858 marrative poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow called "The Courtship of Miles Standish." The poem is about a love triangle between three pilgrims: Miles Standish, Pricilla Mullins and Jon Alden. The author clamed the story was true, however, many believe to the contrary. The statue is a depicting a scene from that poem where John has been asked to ask for Pricilla's hand in marriage for his Captain Miles Standish, when Pricilla replies with "Why don't you speak for yourself, John?"
This is just one of many stories that my ancestors hold about the mayflower. many of the men were signers of the Mayflower compact.
